Half Way through review
It's been wild to think I've been here nearly five months, with the term ending in December I am effectively half way through my time here which is both equally terrifying and exciting. I've made great friends and found myself working in the most exciting job.
Obviously it hasn't been easy settling into a new country and University but thanks to some brilliant people especially; Noah, Ursula, Cata and Pallavi it feels like I've been here for years. Although it hasn't been without its challenges, being prescribed anxiety medication has made a lot of difference although being charged $150 after insurance for the appointment was enough to give someone a heart attack.
American Uni or “college” as they call it has been different to back home. There's been lots more work, mostly weekly bits of work reminiscent of homework you'd get in highschool. However, American marking has made me look like a genius so maybe that's why people spend tens of thousands on US University.
Getting a job working for the American Football team has been a great experience and a real culture shock. Seeing how the college has a team that trains 4 days a week and plays all across the country with a professional set up is something that is almost impossible to imagine happening back home. It's certainly made my experience here worthwhile and I've got to meet some great people and players, especially the guys that speak in a terrible English accent. It's been lovely to be so welcomed by so many people.
I thought I'd make a little list of Pros and Cons of America.
